Our Story. In 2006, YETI Coolers was founded with a simple mission: build the cooler you'd use every day if it existed. Growing up, my brother and I always had a passion for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, traveling to outdoor industry trade shows with our teacher-turned-entrepreneur-father.

Understanding your Audience's Needs For Yeti, however, the founders were perfect matches for their target audience: middle-aged outdoorsmen who take the outdoors seriously. Because of this, they were able to have a solid understanding of their consumer profiles.

YETI aims to create positive social impact for the people in our workforce, supply chain, and communities. GOAL. OUR PROGRESS. Maintain gender pay equity across all levels annually We maintained our commitment to pay equity across all levels in 2022.

Nothing on the market met their criteria, so they engineered a cooler that did - “the cooler you'd use every day if it existed,” according to company lore. That cooler proved costly to produce but it worked, and the Seiders launched their first Yeti cooler (price tag: $250-$300) targeting the customer they knew best.
