Searching for Hidden Mickeys is one of my favorite things to do on my Walt Disney World vacations! A Hidden Mickey is a tribute to Mickey Mouse placed by the Disney Imagineers who designed and constructed the attractions, Walt Disney World Resorts, and theme parks.

“A hidden Mickey is a partial or complete impression of Mickey Mouse placed by the Imagineers and artists to blend into the designs of Disney attractions, hotels, restaurants, and other areas."

Disney Imagineers and theme park fans say a true Disney Hidden Mickey is not meant to be immediately noticed or obvious. An image of Mickey Mouse would not qualify. Instead, you can typically find them in decor, rides, queue areas like the train station, or areas where Mickey Mouse would not be found.

The rarest hidden mickey is said to be in a beloved ride's queue. Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid is an attraction that tells the story of the beloved Disney character Ariel.

Epcot was to be a more adult park with a different emphasis and theme than the Magic Kingdom. The Imagineers designing Epcot couldn't resist slipping Mickeys into the new park in subtle ways, and thus “Hidden Mickeys” were born. Guests and Cast Members started spotting them and the concept took on a life of its own.
