Frequently Asked Questions about 35 degrees below socks tv spot, 'keep feet warm and dry'

Your socks might not be thick enough: Thin socks will not provide much insulation, so it's important to wear thick, thermal socks in the winter.

Heat Holders are quite simply the warmest thermal socks and accessories you can buy!

Wear thick, insulated socks. Look for socks that are made from materials like wool or fleece, which will help to keep your feet warm. Avoid thin cotton socks, as they won't provide enough insulation.

Best thermal socks for extreme cold

  • Smartwool, PHD Ski Medium Crew Socks - RRP £24.95.
  • Mons Royale, Snow Tech Socks - RRP £29.95.
  • Brubeck, Snow Force Socks - RRP £14.95.
  • Icebreaker, Hike + Medium Crew Socks - RRP £22.95.
  • Smartwool, PHD Outdoor Medium Socks - RRP £22.95.
  • Brubeck, Trekking Prestige Socks - RRP £13.95.

Wear proper socks Socks that contain wool and wick away moisture from your feet are best to keep them dry and prevent blistering. I recommend SmartWool Trekking Heavy Crew Socks to my patients who hike, ski or have circulatory problems. For runners, I suggest Feetures Merino 10 Running Socks.

Many people think that wearing layering or thick socks is the best solution for dealing with cold feet. But they actually create pressure on your feet and cut off blood circulation to your toes. So in order to keep your feet warm and dry, you need socks that are breathable, moisture-wicking and thin or medium-thick.

Warming socks are known as a “heating compress”, meaning the body is required to heat the cold, wet socks. The body reacts to the cold by reflexively increasing circulation, thereby stimulating the immune system.

We love a simple cotton sock as much as the next person, but when it's freezing outside and all we want to wear are cozy sweaters, we much prefer warm socks made of merino wool, plush high-pile fabrics, and, if we're feeling particularly fancy, cashmere.

Keep your feet warm Always wear socks, slippers or shoes in the house. Keep toes toasty in bed. If your feet get cold at night then go to bed wearing socks. Keep your socks and feet dry.

Instead, you want to look for socks made from merino wool or synthetic materials, such as polyester or nylon. These materials help wick moisture away so it can evaporate, leaving your feet drier and cooler.

Place your shoes next to a heat source to encourage complete drying. Dry your feet thoroughly after bathing and/or swimming, especially between your toes. Wear Cool-Max or wool toe socks to keep moisture away from the skin of your feet. Put baby powder in your shoes.

You need to wear insulated socks that are going to keep your feet warm and ones that are moisture-wicking and that are going to keep your feet dry! My biggest advice is to avoid cotton socks. They hold onto moisture which makes your feet colder and keeps them wet!
