220 miles to 328 miles Electric range, charging and tax The Volkswagen ID4 can be had with either a 52kWh or 77kWh battery, and power outputs range from 146hp to 295hp with ranges from 220 miles to 328 miles.

Tiguan: Interior and Space. The biggest difference between the ID. 4 and the Tiguan – outside of what's “under the hood,” of course – is the amount of space inside. While their physical footprints are relatively similar, the electric model's interior is far roomier than the gasoline-powered Tiguan.

The ID5 has a generous 549 litres of boot space with the rear seats up. That's actually six litres more than you get in the ID4 and way bigger than the 402 litres you get in a Ford Mustang Mach-E. Although the Ford does have a small 81-litre storage compartment up front.

You can charge your Volkswagen ID. 4 with a Type 2 connector at home, work or at a public charging point. There is also a CCS connector for rapid charging.

2023 Volkswagen ID. The base trim comes with a 60 kWh battery, which is good for about 208 miles of range. Higher trims come with an 82 kWh battery pack. With the VW RWD Pro trim, you can expect around 275 miles of range, while the Pro S Plus trim and RWD Pro S provide about 262 miles of range, all with 201 horsepower.

Audi Q4 e-tron The Volkswagen ID. 4 and Audi Q4 e-tron are two new electric SUVs built off the Volkswagen Group's brand-new “MEB” electric vehicle platform. Both offer competitive power, range, interior space, and features – but they're priced thousands of dollars apart.

When Volkswagen launched the ID. 4 in China in January 2021, it debuted with a price tag of 193,900 yuan ($26,700). The German automaker does business in the region through two joint ventures (JVs) – SAIC-VW and FAW-VW.

VW says the ID5 loses just 12 mm in rear passenger headroom versus the ID4, but still allows for a 549-liter trunk. In comparison, the ID4 has 543 liters of trunk space. The standard ID5 is 4599 mm long, making it slightly bigger than the ID4 at 4584 mm.

Your Volkswagen EV will come from the dealer with a Level 1 charger that plugs into a standard three-prong, 120-volt outlet. However, if you have a driveway or a permanent parking place, you will likely want to get a Level 2 charger installed at your home.
