An astronaut with the super power of having a low heart-rate goes on an arduous journey through the solar system to find his deadbeat dad (main objective) and save the world (mostly glossed over). After the astronaut finds his Dad at a space station orbiting Neptune, they quarrel for a bit.

Ad Astra is a fantasy science fiction movie set in the near future. The dialogue is often muted by spacesuits, and Roy narrates a lot of the story as it goes along. The movie is mainly about the relationship between Roy and his missing father, so it doesn't have much of a plot and moves quite slowly.

We start with Roy (Brad Pitt), who is depressed and hiding behind a mask. He then goes deeper and deeper into depression the further he travels into the darkness of space. At the end of the movie, light delivers him out of the dark and back to Earth, now a more mentally stable man.

Ad Astra Isn't Based On Anything But Really Serious Science There's good news and there's bad news here because unfortunately, Ad Astra is not based on a book or comic. It's an original story, which means that there aren't any more space adventures with Roy McBride.
