Treasure Island Hotel and Casino (also known as Treasure Island Las Vegas and "TI") is a pirate-themed hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, U.S. It includes 2,885 rooms and a 47,927 sq ft (4,452.6 m2) casino. The book tells the story of an impulsive and adventurous young boy named Jim Hawkins who comes across a treasure map. He goes on a journey to try and recover the treasure, which once belonged to the famous Captain Flint. On his journey, he meets Long John Silver, a one-legged cook who ends up leading a pirate mutiny.

While the novel Treasure Island certainly influenced the way we think of pirates - and especially their presumed proclivity for burying treasure and marking it on secret maps - it's the 1950 movie adaptation of the book, directed by Byron Haskin, that gave us the archetypal image of pirates and pirate talk.

Every child is a potential achiever, and is unique in its style of learning and areas of interest. No child should be forced to move through a path that they are not interested in. If they do so, they won't be successful in that field.

In the story, an innkeeper's son, Jim, overhears pirates talking about finding an island where there is hidden gold, and goes to tell his local authorities. The authorities and the pirates then race to get to the treasure first, with Jim caught in the middle of their conflict.
