Chobani is making the decision to discontinue their Ultra-Filtered Milk line after less than three months of production, according to Food Dive. The company states that inflation is the main reason for the discontinuation.

Elena Nacarino sued Chobani LLC in 2020 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. She alleged the “Greek Yogurt Vanilla Blended” product name and label imagery made retail purchasers think the product had more flavor from the vanilla plant than it really did.

If you bought your oat milk in the refrigerator section of the grocery store, put it in your fridge as soon as you get home. (Your fridge should be set below 40° F.) Like most other foods and drinks that need to be refrigerated, oat milk shouldn't be left at room temperature for more than two hours.

"Signs of bad oat milk are a sour smell, a yellowish tinge to the color and a clumpy or thick texture." If you smell or see any of these signs, it's time to toss the oat milk even if it hasn't reached its best-by date.

Oat milk has a shorter window of time that it's fresh - it usually lasts about 7-10 days in the fridge once it's been opened. After that point, inspect, smell, or taste the milk to see if it's spoiled.

It's possible sales weren't doing as well as the company liked, or not as many stores opted to carry it as initially expected. Chobani seemed to hint in its statement that inflation made it too costly for the company and its co-packer, so it's possible it no longer made financial sense to keep producing the milk.

Although whole grain oats and water are the foundation of any healthy oat milk, many oat milks also contain oil to give it a creamy consistency.

Oatly also uses canola oil as an emulsifier to keep the oats and water together and to give it that creamy, rich texture like cow's milk.
