RedCard is Target's flagship program, and it has been around for over a decade. It requires you to either open a credit line or connect a bank account to a Target debit card. In exchange, you get a flat 5% off nearly all purchases and free two-day shipping on most items - without any extra work on your part.

The main Target Credit Card requirements are that an applicant must be at least 18 years old with a valid Social Security number. Applicants must also have a physical U.S. address, enough income to make monthly minimum payments, and at least fair credit.

The debit card is linked to customers' existing checking accounts, and for the credit card, users can charge in-store purchases or buy online with the credit card at Target.com. The Target-branded Mastercard can be used anywhere that accepts Mastercard.

When you navigate back to the main Wallet page, the selected RedCard will show on the main Wallet screen. Scan your Wallet barcode at checkout to pay with your RedCard and any other selected barcode options (e.g., coupons, GiftCards or Target Circle earnings).

If you're a regular shopper at Target stores or Target.com, the RedCard may be worth it for you. You do get value from the 5% discount, free shipping, exclusive deals, and extended return policy. However, there are exclusions to these perks, and the card can only be used when shopping at Target.

There is no specific mention of the credit score needed to qualify for a RedCard on the Target website. Generally, most store credit cards need a FICO® score that's fair or better to qualify for approval. So, if you have a credit score anywhere above 580, you should be good to go.

3. Enter the information from the personalized card you received in the mail.
