The resort consists of two theme parks - Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure - along with the Volcano Bay water park; seven (soon to be eight) Loews-operated Universal hotels; and the CityWalk dining, nightlife, and shopping complex.

If you're more interested in large rides like roller coasters, Universal is going to be your best bet. The same is true if you're a big fan of Harry Potter. If you don't mind some of the more family-friendly rides or you have little ones to bring along, Disney may be a better option.

The theme parks at Universal Orlando offer something for everyone. There are thrilling coasters and water rides for the adrenaline junkies, shows for families, rides for kids of all sizes, and some of the best themed play areas for little kids anywhere in the world.

Typically, free cancellation can be made at least 2-3 days before the check-in date. However, hotels may have different cancellation policies, so always review the terms and conditions. If you cancel the booking one day before your check-in, the hotel may charge a fee from the card you used to make the reservation.

A credit card deposit equal to one night's room rate (plus tax) is required when booking. Cancellations made six or more days prior to check-in receive a full refund. Cancellations five or fewer days before check-in forfeit the deposit.

But we didn't stay at just any old hotel: we stayed at the most expensive hotel on Universal property - Loews Portofino Bay. So come with us to see what staying in such a swanky hotel is like!

Universal and Disney are two completely different resorts and owned by different companies. As such, the two theme park resorts are direct competitors. They are only separated by roughly 10 miles, so it makes sense that many guests will go to both parks during their vacation.

Universal Studios Hollywood™ , The Entertainment Capital of L.A.SM, includes a full-day, movie-based Theme Park and Studio Tour plus Universal CityWalk®, our entertainment, shopping and dining complex, which includes the Universal Cinema and the “5 Towers” state-of-the-art outdoor concert venue.

Universal has one water park, Volcano Bay. Both resorts have a studio-themed park. Otherwise, the themes of each park are quite different. Overall, Walt Disney World is much more expansive with many more attractions, restaurants, and hotels to choose from.
