The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is an automotive charitable event held each year during the second weekend in March at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island in Amelia Island, Florida.

Amelia Island is a part of the Sea Islands chain that stretches along the East Coast of the United States from South Carolina to Florida; it is the southernmost of the Sea Islands, and the northernmost of the barrier islands on Florida's Atlantic coast.

Amelia Island is the northernmost barrier island On Florida's Atlantic coast. The Island is located just 15 miles east of Interstate 95 by car, using exit# 373. Vacationers may also reach Amelia Island by air via the Jacksonville International Airport, which is 30 minutes South of the Island.

The northernmost point of Florida's eastern barrier islands, this island was supposedly settled in the year 1000 by Timucuan Native Americans, which they called “Nopoyca.” In the 1019 years since, over eight countries have claimed Amelia Island as their own, earning it the nickname, the “Isle of the Eight Flags.”

Amelia Island is unique in that its beaches are made of natural Appalachian quartz sand and most are framed by sand dunes, some as high as 40 feet. Not all of Florida's beaches are backed by these beautiful natural features, but Amelia Island has plenty of dunes for your coastal reveries.

While Orlando is known for its fictional princesses, Amelia Island is named for a real-life princess, Princess Amelia, daughter of King George II.

The 2008 recession brought a negative cash flow to the property and Amelia Island Plantation Company, still owned by Richard Cooper, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009. The following year, The Omni Corporation bid on the resort at an auction in bankruptcy court and took control by 2012.

Effective April 6, 2023: Seasonal closures are in effect at Amelia Island State Park due to shorebird nesting.
