Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) is an extraordinarily talented and largely self-taught culinary novice. When he and his family are displaced from their native India and settle in a quaint French village, they decide to open an Indian eatery. The Hundred-Foot Journey is about how the hundred-foot distance between a new Indian kitchen and a traditional French one can represent the gulf between different cultures and desires.

Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val Principal photography for the film began on September 23, 2013, in Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, and there was extensive filming at scenic locales in Midi-Pyrénées. Some scenes were shot in the Cité du Cinéma studio complex, located in Saint-Denis, north of Paris.

This is a wonderful film, with a fine script, solid direction by Lasse Hallstrom, and beautiful acting, particularly by Mirren and Puri. The young people, Dayal and Le Bon, who plays a sous chef in Madame's restaurant, are very good as rivals and friends.

It's based on a novel by an expatriate American born in Portugal and raised in Switzerland, directed by a Swede, stars a quintessentially English (though half-Russian) actor as a Frenchwoman, and is all about an exiled Indian family in France.

The teams are based at major cricket grounds around the UK, representing different regions. The two London-based sides are hosted by The Kia Oval and Lord's, while The Ageas Bowl hosts Southern Brave. Trent Bridge and Edgbaston host the two midlands-based teams with Sophia Gardens hosting Welsh Fire.
