Frequently Asked Questions about battery tender battery charger and maintainer tv spot, 'ready to go when you are'

They automatically switch to a safe float voltage level that keeps the battery charged and yet does not do any harm to the battery. In fact, in most cases, this type of charge maintenance will extend the battery's useful life by at least 50%.

Unlike standard and trickle chargers, a battery maintainer can be attached to a battery indefinitely without any fear of overcharging. This makes them perfect for seasonal vehicles that will remain idle for longer periods of time.

The red light will remain on until the charger completes the charging stage. < GREEN LIGHT FLASHING –When the green light is flashing, and. the red light is on, the battery is greater than 80% charged and may be removed from the charger and used if necessary.

If the battery tender shuts off automatically it wont hurt the battery. If it doesn't have the capability of shutting off it may eventually overcharge the battery.

Most all Automatic maintainers are designed to be connected to a battery and in theory you could walk away forever! While the battery wont last forever on a battery maintainer as the activate material inside the battery will eventually break down and cause a failure.

Make sure you don't leave them hooked up to a charger all winter! This can be dangerous, and will damage your batteries. Once charged, the self discharge rate of the batteries will keep them up to snuff until June for sure.

Battery tenders or maintainers can extend your car battery's life and eliminate the need for a charger altogether when you use them regularly. Battery maintainers are slow-working chargers that let you replenish the regular discharge that affects car batteries -- particularly when the vehicles aren't in use.

You can (and most people do) leave it connected to your battery all winter, even for years if you need to. Contrary to the popular wisdom, cold temperatures are better for battery storage. Self discharge rate is lower on VRLA batteries, but it's still much faster at +20 than at -20.

The Battery Tender® Junior charges at a rate of 750mA, or 0.75A per hour. Therefore, a fully discharged 15 Amp-Hour battery will take approximately 16 hours to recharge to 80% capacity.

About 10-24 hours, depending on how weak your battery is. If you're using a trickle charger, expect it to take days. Don't expect an under-charged battery to do the job of a fully charged one. Take your battery off the charger early, and you may risk needing a jump-start later.

An overcharged battery will also overheat and become too hot to touch by hand. Internally, the battery's electrolyte will reach dangerously high levels causing acid-like smells, bulging of the battery case, and fluid levels to drop faster than usual.

You're fine to leave them on the charger overnight. The damage inflicted on the battery isn't much different than just storing them at 100% charge. Ideally if you could keep the battery at 50% all the time, that would give it the longest lifespan but thats unrealistic.
