Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Nissan Titan, 2016 and 2018 Nissan Titan XD vehicles. Accessories installed on these vehicles reduced the load carrying capacity, however, a Load Carrying Capacity modification label was not installed, possibly allowing the vehicle to be overloaded.

It's a worthy goal but, unfortunately, the resultant truck is compromised to the point of being mostly irrelevant. Sure, the beefier XD model can tow more than the regular Titan and it rides better than heavy-duty rivals. However, not only can some half-ton trucks pull more, but most have a smoother ride too.

There's no easy way to say this: Our long-term Nissan Titan XD Diesel was one of the most disappointing new vehicles we have evaluated in recent memory, a distinction highlighted by our truck's serious mechanical issues and grounded in its general inability to endear when it was healthy.

The Titan XD Diesel manages impressive fuel economy too. After one week's near equal city/highway driving, most of which was easy-going in order to save fuel (I was responsible for filling it up after all), I achieved an average of 13.4 L/100km. That's extremely good.

6.5-foot The Titan XD also doesn't offer different cab-and-bed configurations; every model pairs a crew cab with a 6.5-foot bed.

Transmission issues - The 2016 Titan struggled with a few transmission problems. Owners have observed hard shifting and jerking while shifting. Some reports claimed that their trucks would stop abruptly while driving. Fuel pump failure - Another issue with the high number of reports is the truck's fuel system.
