Recycling also saves on the need for new raw materials, preserving the natural environment, saving energy and reducing carbon emissions.

  • Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators.
  • Conserves natural resources such as timber, water and minerals.
  • Prevents pollution and reduces greenhouse gases by reducing the need to mine and process new raw materials.

How to recycle plastic bottles

  1. Empty and rinse bottles.
  2. Leave on labels - these will be removed in the process.
  3. Squash bottles to save space.
  4. Replace lids and tops.
  5. If the lid is already attached, leave attached as this will ensure the lid is recycled along with the bottle.

The Coca‑Cola Company now offers 100% rPET bottles in more than 25 markets, bringing it closer to its World Without Waste goal of making bottles with 50% recycled content by 2030.

Coca-Cola is now using more than 50 per cent recycled plastics in its plastic bottles, with all bottles under one litre made entirely from recycled plastic. We have also removed plastic straws and stirrers and polystyrene from all our frozen drink cups and lids.

Collecting and recycling the equivalent of 100% of our cans and bottles by 2030. Reducing the amount of new plastic, we use – including all our bottles under one litre being made from recycled plastic across our range of beverages, such as Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Mt Franklin and Pump.

Refillable bottles, the dominant form of reusable packaging used by Coca-Cola and its bottlers, get reused as many as 25-50 times, depending on what material they are made of (plastic or glass). This means that each refillable bottle has the potential to replace 24-49 single-use plastic bottles.
