Do I need a credit card to check-in? A major credit card is required to hold a $100.00 refundable security deposit at check in. The hold will release 1-10 business days following check-out. Be advised that based on your bank or credit card company's individual terms, the hold against these funds may last up to 30 days.

Upon request, PLATINUM and DIAMOND Level Members can check in early up to two hours prior to the applicable Participating Hotel's standard check-in time, subject to availability. (However, if available, a Participating Hotel may offer an earlier check-in.)

Status shortcuts: By signing up for the Wyndham Rewards Earner Card, you'll receive complimentary Gold status for no annual fee. The Earner Plus card ($75 annual fee) offers complimentary Platinum status, and the Earner Business card ($95 annual fee) grants automatic Diamond status.

A hotel check-in app is one of the easiest ways to provide remote/online or self check-in. Mobile bookings have been a regular occurrence for many years now, and they continue to grow, so it makes sense to also allow guests to check-in and check-out via their smart device too.

Why can hotel holds take so long to resolve? The amount of time a hotel hold may stay on your account varies from hotel to hotel. Generally speaking, a hold will be released within 24 hours of checking out. But sometimes, it can take up to a week to see the charge disappear.

Generally, most hotels will put a temporary hold on your credit card when you check in. This hold usually lasts for a few days after you check out, when it will usually disappear. If you see a hotel credit card hold on your statement longer than that, contact your credit card issuer to see if they can remove the hold.

Occupancy. If you're checking in during a peak period, your room simply may not be available or cleaned by the time you want to check-in. Hot Tip: If a hotel is at capacity, there may simply not be a room that you can be placed in until guests complete their checkout and housekeeping has serviced the room.

Additional charges. If you ask for an early check-in and there's a room readily available, the hotel won't charge you for your early arrival. However if early check-in is something you simply have to have, there are some cases, like at Hyatt hotels, where you can purchase it for an additional charge.
