The commercials feature jingles written using various distinctive forms of popular music.

Getting an annual credit report for free can be safe if you are careful about the particular website from which you get it. But you should be careful, since pulling your credit many times over a short period can actually worsen your credit score.

This product is strongly not recommended by SuperMoney users with a score of -100, equating to 1 on a 5 point rating scale. Recommendation score measures the loyalty between a provider and a consumer. It's at +100 if everybody recommends the provider, and at -100 when no one recommends.

FreeCreditScore.com, FreeCreditReport.com and Credit.com are websites owned by Experian Consumer Direct, a subsidiary of the credit bureau Experian. The sites offer users their personal credit reports from Experian on the condition that they sign up for Experian's Triple Advantage credit monitoring program for a fee.

Federal law gives you free access to your credit reports from the three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Using the government-mandated AnnualCreditReport.com website is the quickest way to get them, but you can also request them by phone or mail.

Federal law gives you the right to get a free copy of your credit report every 12 months from each of the three nationwide credit bureaus.

You can access these reports for free at annualcreditreport.com, which is authorized by federal law. We recommend you don't access all three reports at the same time, but instead space one report out every four months. AnnualCreditReport.com allows you to access each of these reports weekly for free in one centralized location, and is the only site authorized by federal law to do so. You can request all three credit reports at once, or spread them out over the week.

Don't be fooled by look-alikes. Lots of sites promise credit reports for free. AnnualCreditReport.com is the only official site explicitly directed by Federal law to provide them.
