It can help relieve many menstrual period symptoms, such as cramps and bloating. Common Midol side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth. Constipation and blurry vision can also happen. Rare but serious Midol side effects include eye pain with blurry vision, trouble urinating, and liver damage.

This medicine treats pain or inflammation brought on by conditions like headache, backache, tooth pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, or any other minor injuries. Midol works by blocking the production of inflammation-causing substances in your body. You have had a heart attack, stroke, or blood clot.

Older adults may be at greater risk for stomach/intestinal bleeding, kidney problems, heart attack, and stroke while using this drug. Before using this medication, women of childbearing age should talk with their doctor(s) about the benefits and risks.

Some Midol® products help relieve period pain and other discomfort caused by your period (i.e. cramps, bloating, body aches, and fatigue). Midol® Complete can last for up to 6 hours and relieves other period symptoms beyond pain. Midol® Long Lasting Relief can provide period pain relief for up to 8 hours.

Some women make more prostaglandins or are more sensitive to them than others, so they may have stronger and more frequent cramps (actually, uterine muscle contractions) during the first day or two of menstruation, or they may find that the usual painkillers don't bring relief.

Even if you do not have symptoms, it is important to get help right away. Do not take this medication close to bedtime. It may prevent you from sleeping. This medication may affect your coordination, reaction time, or judgment.

Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

It eased the cramps, bloat and lethargic feeling I get several days before my period. Because I do have a sensitive stomach, I like to take my mine with food and I never had a problem. Within a couple hours I felt less bloated and puffy. I would recommend someone taking Midol for a few days before/during your period.

This is a personal preference. Some feel acetaminophen works better for them, whereas others find ibuprofen better relieves a headache. Muscle ache or pulled/strained muscle. Ibuprofen typically works better for this kind of pain relief, due to the anti-inflammatory effects.
