Tastes more like the usual Jack Daniel's, but an elevated, more complex and interesting, version. Med-long -> Roasted corn, caramel, baking spice and a light candy sweetness.

Jack Daniels Old No. 7 Whiskey is aged in barrels made of charred oak. On the palate, it is light & sweet, with a hint of wood polish & vanilla aftertaste.

It's not very impressive to be honest. There's a hint of like varnish to it. So i'm expecting a very strong burning whiskey but let's find out here's the taste. Test and as i expected.

Nose: Light with plenty of sweetness. There are hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke. Palate: Quite smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise. Finish: Sweet with a little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.

Jack Daniel chose a well-considered recipe of 80% corn, 12% barley and 8% rye that we still use today. Using only No. 1 quality grade corn gives the mash an inviting sweetness. An ample amount of rye rounds out the sweetness with robust notes of pepper and spice.

The Bottom Line This Tennessee whiskey has remained iconic for more than 150 years and is a great option for mixing into a classic Jack and Cola or other highballs. Sipped neat or on the rocks, it's a good introductory whiskey, but may lack the complexity that some whiskey aficionados seek.
