Lowrance HDS9 Live Combo

Lowrance announced the new HDS 2nd generation December 2011. This has been a hot topic on internet marine electronics forums with many questions about how it compares to the 1st generation HDS. For this discussion I will use Gen1 and Gen2 for the 2 generations of HDS models.

HDI is a transducer that combines a round traditional sonar element, and a DownScan bar. SINGLE ELEMENT TRANSDUCERS. Transducers with a single element are capable of transmitting two alternating frequencies. The Lowrance Skimmer for example, can transmit 83 and 200kHz frequencies or Medium and High CHIRP ranges.

The WIFI-1 is a marine-grade wireless gateway that allows owners of HDS Gen2 and HDS Gen2 Touch display units to view data when utilized in conjunction with a wireless device.
