Under the hood, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata boasts a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, making it perfect for cruising around town or tackling winding back roads. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, but a six-speed automatic is also available.

The exterior of the 2016 MX-5 Miata has been completely redesigned with sharper lines, a more aggressive stance, and sleek LED headlights. The new design is not only visually striking but also enhances vehicle performance by improving aerodynamics. The car is also slightly shorter, lower, and wider than the previous model, resulting in a more nimble and responsive driving experience.

Inside, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata features high-quality materials and a driver-focused layout. The cabin is cozy but spacious enough to accommodate two passengers comfortably. The infotainment system is easy to use and includes a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, and a premium Bose sound system in higher trim levels.

Overall, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a testament to Mazda's commitment to creating fun-to-drive, stylish sports cars that deliver in performance and design. The combination of classic design elements and modern features ensures that the MX-5 Miata continues to be a favorite among sports car enthusiasts.

Frequently Asked Questions about 2016 mazda mx-5 miata

At launch, the MX-5 Miata is powered by a 116-hp 1.6-liter engine and is available solely with a five-speed manual transmission. Niceties such as power windows and aluminum wheels are optional, and no matter how it's equipped, the Miata is extremely lightweight by modern standards.

Mazda MX-5 Miata - The Choice of a Million Mazda Fans The MX-5 Miata is a symbol of Mazda's car-making philosophy, “Jinba Ittai,” which means horse and rider as one and expresses the type of fun-to-drive roadster engineers have intended to build since day one of the vehicle's inception.

The fourth-generation Mazda MX-5, model code ND, is the current generation of the Mazda MX-5 roadster. The car is manufactured in Mazda's Hiroshima plant since March 4, 2015. Mazda officially unveiled the car on September 3, 2014, in the United States and Spain, and on September 4, 2014, in Japan.

MX-5 stands for Mazda Experiment and project number 5. The Mk2 lost the original's pop-up lights as a result of crash regulations.

From the outset, it was an unqualified sales smash, with some 400,000 of them sold between 1989 (as a 1990 model year) and 1998. That makes the NA the most popular of all four generations of MX-5, and the one that remains the cheapest on the used market.

Yes, the 2023 MX-5 Miata is a great sports car. It delivers brisk acceleration, athletic handling and good fuel economy, all wrapped up in a svelte two-seat roadster package. It's not perfect, though. The cabin is upscale but very snug, and cargo space is limited to a tiny trunk.

You enjoy the purest driving experience in the 1.5, but the 2.0 has higher limits and is more thrilling in a straight line. Either way, you can't go wrong – the MX-5 is one of the most rewarding cars you can drive at any price. Just keep in mind that there are plenty of hot hatches that are quicker than the Mazda.

As the best-selling two-seat convertible sports car in history, the MX-5 has been marketed globally, with production exceeding one million, as of early 2016. The name miata derives from Old High German for "reward".

5 The MX5 was known by various names around the world. In Japan it was not badged as a Mazda at all but was known as the Eunos Roadster, an early example of Japanese sub-branding.

Ideally, you'll want one of the 1994-1997 models, which got the more powerful and more easily modified 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. But the 1.6 will still be fun, and it can be easily replaced with the later 1.8. Also, the Miata is a great starting point if you're looking to modify a car.
