Whispers of the Old Gods (WotOG, Old Gods) is the third expansion to Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. Featuring 134 new collectible cards, the expansion was released April 26, 2016 in the Americas region, and April 27 in the Europe and Asia regions.

The Old Gods are clearly based on H.P. Lovecraft's work. C'thun = Cthulhu, Yogg-Saron = Yogg-Sothoth, Y'Shaarj = Nyarlathotep. C'thun resembles a sea anemone, G'huun resembles a slug, and N'Zoth resembles an octopus.

During the primordial age, four Old Gods ruled absolutely over Azeroth, named Y'Shaarj, C'Thun, N'Zoth, and Yogg-Saron. Together, the four formed the Black Empire, a dark civilization.

Gift of the Old Gods is an uncollectible warlock spell card that only appears in Duels. It is one of warlock's Signature Treasures.

Inspired by the eldritch horrors described in H.P. Lovecraft's works and beyond, the four Old Gods were created years ago by the Void Lords. These Void Lords are beings made of pure darkness and shadow, who reside in the Void realm outside of reality.
