Grade 4 titanium Grade 4 titanium is the strongest pure grade titanium, but it is also the least moldable. Still, it has a good cold formability, and it has many medical and industrial uses because of its great strength, durability and weldability. When alloyed with other metals such as aluminium or vanadium, titanium becomes dramatically stronger than many steels. In terms of sheer strength, the best titanium alloys beat low-to-medium grade stainless steels. However, the highest grade of stainless steel is stronger than titanium alloys.

However, titanium has a higher strength-to-weight ratio and better fatigue resistance. Tool steels have high hardness and wear resistance but tend to overheat. Stainless steel has better corrosion resistance but lower strength.
