What is DC Comics The Batman Who Laughs?

DC Comics The Batman Who Laughs tv commercials

DC Comics' The Batman Who Laughs is a character from the Dark Multiverse, an alternate reality that exists alongside the main DC Universe. He is essentially a twisted version of Batman, who has been corrupted by a powerful, evil entity known as the Joker.

In this alternate reality, Bruce Wayne becomes infected with a toxin created by the Joker, which slowly drives him insane and turns him into a killer. As his sanity continues to slip away, he becomes more and more like the Joker, adopting his maniacal laugh and sadistic tendencies. Eventually, he fully embraces his new persona, becoming The Batman Who Laughs.

The Batman Who Laughs possesses all of Batman's intellect and fighting skills, but he also has the twisted sense of humor and love of chaos that the Joker is known for. He wears a spiked metal helmet that covers his face, and his eyes glow an eerie green. His suit is also black and gray, much like Batman's, but it's covered in spikes and other menacing-looking features.

In addition to his physical attributes, The Batman Who Laughs also has a number of dark powers. He can manipulate reality itself, creating terrifying illusions that manipulate his targets' perceptions of reality. He can also infect others with the same toxin that transformed him into his current form, creating an army of twisted, Joker-like minions.

Despite his terrifying persona, The Batman Who Laughs has become a fan favorite character in the DC Universe. He offers a different take on both Batman and the Joker, and his darker, edgier personality has captured the attention of many comic book fans who are looking for something darker and more complex than the traditional superhero stories.

Created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo in 2017, Batman Who Laughs was the breakout star of Dark Nights: Metal.

The art was also solid throughout. It did feel a bit stretched out and also some of the lettering, especially for Batman who Laughs is hard as hell to read. Overall though, it was a fun and breezy read and a solid sequel to black mirror. A 3.5 out of 5, but I'll bump it to a 4.
