What does LYRIQ mean? According to Philip Dauchy (Head of Global Brand Strategy for Cadillac), LYRIQ is the first of a new line of vehicles that will end in “IQ.” He also said it signals a new type of vehicle “that works in concert with man, nature, and machine.”

The latest monthly production figure brings the total number of 2023 Cadillac Lyriq EVs produced to 11,175 units assembled at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, which GM upgraded as part of a $2 billion investment to bring the facility up to spec for electric vehicle production.

By the time General Motors purchased the company in 1909, Cadillac had already established itself as one of America's premier luxury car makers. The complete interchangeability of its precision parts had allowed it to lay the foundation for the modern mass production of automobiles.

Cadillac was founded in 1902 by Henry Leland, who named the company after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, who happens to be the founder of Detroit. Just 6 short years later Cadillac brought the idea of interchangeable parts to the automotive industry and laid the ground work for modern mass production of automobiles.

Cadillac is General Motors' flagship luxury automaker. Cadillac has a range of luxury SUVs, from small crossovers like the XT4 to the XT5, XT6, and the full-size Escalade. Other vehicles include coupes and sedans, as well as performance-oriented V-Series models like the ATS-V and CTS-V.

Ultium scalable battery architecture The Lyriq rides on GM's Ultium scalable battery architecture, which means it shares its tech with the beastly GMC Hummer EV pickup truck, but the two couldn't be more different.

Cadillac today unveiled the first-ever all-electric 2025 ESCALADE IQ, a reimagination of the luxury full-size SUV experience, brimming with iconic design, the highest level of craftsmanship and the latest automotive technology.

Henry Leland founded the Cadillac company in 1902. He named the company after the founder of Detroit, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. After only six years, Cadillac brought the idea of interchangeable parts to the industry, bringing a ground-breaking revelation to the future of car production.

General Motors General Motors' Key Brands. The Cadillac luxury car brand is one of GM's most popular offerings. Established in 1902 with the founding of the Cadillac Automobile Company, the vehicle became a part of the General Motors portfolio in 1909.

Cadillac was the first American-made car to receive this award, which led to their slogan “the standard of the world.” To this day, they remain the only car company to receive the trophy twice, having won it again in 1913 for the creation of the first electric, self-starting car.
