Common Materials for Robot Combat

• 4130 Steel. 4130 steels, also known as chromoly, are weldable, easy to machine, and due to its high strength, it is commonly used in automotive and aerospace industries.
• AR500 Steel. AR500 steel is an incredibly durable material used in snowplows, tanks and rock crushing machines.
• UHMW.

Battlebots uses brushless motors for its robots due to the control and speeds that they posses. Note that the direction of the motor can be reversed by switching any 2 of the wires.

Robot designs typically incorporate weapons for attacking opponents, such as axes, hammers, flippers, and spinning devices. Rules almost always prohibit gun-like weapons as well as other strategies not conducive to the safety and enjoyment of participants and spectators.

For smaller combat robots, it's typical to use a single battery pack, but for larger robots, often two or more separate batteries provide power for the drive system and weapon system, often because the two operate at different voltages to better suit the higher speed motors used for weapon systems.
