I discovered Agatha Christie when I was about eleven or twelve, and read her books compulsively; that was my happiest reading experience as a child. I always knew I wanted to write a book and it was always going to be that kind of book - a psychological detective story is how I think of The Silent Patient.

There are events and situations in this novel that deals with self-harm, attempted suicide, domestic abuse, and child abuse. Moving along now, the intro to “The Silent Patient” immediately had me hooked. This was the first book I've ever read by Michaelides and let me say, I truly love his style of writing.

Sexual content is mostly references to characters having sex, but not with much detail. Violence occurs a few times, and the most detailed is in regard to the murder at the heart of the story; man was shot in the face five times and there is blood and gore.

The silent patient : a true story / Darlene Jamison. E-book (2017.) Publisher: [United States] : Page Publishing, Inc., 2017.

So yes, it is worth the read. To people who have read a lot of thrillers, they might figure out the ending. But the book does keep you on the edge and wanting to know what happens next. For a debut book, the author has done a commendable job.

This is the first book that I read in over a month… Yikes… how sad! However, I am so glad that my first book of March was this one. This book has been recommended to me several times over the past few years and honestly I am kicking myself over the fact that it took me this long to get to it.

It is a slow burn of a read, but at times it's a little too slow. Most of the action happens in the last fourth of the novel. Maybe even less. Everything goes from zero to a hundred real quick.

Trigger Warnings: Suicide, mental illness, depression, stalking, infidelity, loss of a parent, and parental abuse. Alicia, a well-known artist, ties her husband to a chair and shoots him five times, after which she paints a mysterious painting and remains a silent patient for the rest of her life.

But trust me, the beginning of this book is nothing short of a wild ride from love to hate. From mad love to bad blood – that's how The Silent Patient begins 😲 This novel takes you through the fascinating journey of a power couple, Alicia and Gabriel, whose marriage ends with a gunshot.

he Value of Silence Silence is a source of great strength. Most of us do not like silence, because it does force us to confront ourselves. In fact, it is sometimes about what we find staring back at us that we term as emptiness. We are also fearful of silence, because we do equate silence with insignificance.

The book ends with the police coming to question him about the diary. The big twist is when you realize that they are two different timelines (one before the murder, the other after) being told at once, and Theo was the “masked man” that prompted the murder (though Alicia is the one who actually did it).
