Macan: The small SUV known as the “Macan” was originally rumored to be called the “Cajun,” after the communities in the bayous of Southern Louisiana. The word “macan” itself can either refer to the Indonesian and Malaysian term for “tiger” or the Serbo-Croatian word for “tomcat.”

The only noticeable difference between the base Macan and the Macan S on the exterior is their wheels. The Macan has 19-inch wheels paired with all-season tires. The Macan S comes with 20-inch wheels. All of the Macan trim levels for 2022 have teardrop-like LED headlights and a prominent, curved nose.

It all started with the base and the S Diesel, which have always been VW/Audi engines. The last true 'Porsche' engine was the 2018 Macan Turbo 3.6L. After 2018, all Porsche Macan engines are Audi engines with different tuning aspects.

sport "S" is for sport. If you're driving on twisty country roads and want to keep the RPM up as you wind through corners, the "S" position is where you want to be. In "S", the transmission holds lower gears longer for more power as you come out of the curves.

The '4' in the Porsche model designation represents the four driven wheels in all-wheel drive models. At Porsche, the 'S' has always stood for 'sport' and enhanced performance. For the 911, this means increased engine output, as well as large brakes and wheels.
