The game Hungry Hungry Hippos was brought to America by a WWII veteran named Fred Kroll, who later worked for the Pressman Toy Corporation and discovered the game in Japan. Kroll licensed the international rights to the game from the Agatsuma company in Tokyo and then later sold the rights to Hasbro.

In Hungry Hungry Hippos, players hover over a proving ground full of 20 plastic balls.

One person lays on their stomach on the scooter, while their teammate is behind them, holding up their feet (like a wheelbarrow race, but the scooter is used instead of arms). The person that is behind, pushes the other person's legs into the middle of the circle so they can catch balls on the ground with a bucket.

The game starts with each player choosing one of the hungry. Hippos. Then each player puts five marbles into the marble release area to the right of their hippo.

Africa Hippopotamuses (Hippopotamus amphibius) are large, round, water-loving animals that are native to Africa.

Once the marble is eaten. The next player clockwise releases a marble. This process repeats until all the marbles in all the release.

The candy consists of a wafer biscuit shaped like a hippopotamus. Inside the crisp hollow biscuit are two flavours of icing: milk-flavored and hazelnut cream in the original flavour, milk cream and chocolate cream in the cocoa flavour - similar to a Kinder Bueno.
