While the Ioniq 6's ride is smooth and its cabin is well-isolated and quiet, its handling is still plenty engaging. Its low center of gravity gives it a planted feel in corners and steering-wheel paddles allow the driver to select different modes of regenerative braking on the fly.

South Korea Built in Hyundai's Asan plant in South Korea, Ioniq 6 production began in January 2023.

IONIQ 6 is equipped with a 77 kWh battery available with two powertrains (rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive) offering up to 338 2 miles of range. Its 800V technology, available as standard, allows you to benefit from ultra-fast charging 3 so that driving an electric vehicle is easier than ever.

The base 6 makes 149 horsepower and has a single electric motor powering the rear wheels. Single-motor cars equipped with the Long Range battery pack have 225 horsepower. The more expensive 320-hp dual-motor versions provide all-wheel drive thanks to front and rear electric motors and come only with the bigger battery.

Only electric cars equipped with a CCS connector can use a Supercharger. Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 models currently have issues charging when connected to Tesla's newer V3 units (charging on V2 units works fine). Although the Tesla app doesn't show which units are V2 or V3, chargers with an output of 250kW are V3.

Hyundai and Kia models compatible with Tesla's NACS plug will start arriving in the fourth quarter of 2024. In the first quarter of 2025, the automakers will also provide adapters to its current customers so they can access Tesla Supercharger stations.

For charging, a 350 kW DC station takes 18 minutes for a 10% to 80% charge with a range of 131 km* from 5 minutes of charging, and a 50 kW DC station takes 66 minutes for a 10% to 80% charge. Speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, and from 80 to 120 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

Hyundai IONIQ 6 batteries ordinarily last between 3-5 years, but this is variable depending on the type of battery, weather conditions, driving habits, and more.

Owners of existing and future Hyundai electric vehicles with the current combined charging system will have access to the Tesla Supercharging Network starting in the first quarter of 2025.

That EPA-rated 361 miles is of course for the longest-range version of the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6, the IONIQ 6 SE Long Range RWD trim. And that is thanks in part to the vehicle's superb aerodynamics, with this trim getting a “fuel efficiency” rating of 140 MPGe.
