Find out what BBFC Examiners thought of their first encounter with Peter, Egon, Ray and Winston. Ghostbusters was submitted to the BBFC in June 1984 and classified PG for its language, innuendo and potentially scary scenes.

This is an amazing movie! Funny, smart, well written and directed. It features an outstanding performance from Bill Murray, great showings by Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis and one of the last documented instances of Dan Aykroyd being funny on film (he was blown by a ghost!).

The blockbuster forever enchanted audiences with its quirky humor, pioneering visual effects, catchy theme song with a strange true story behind it, and spooky stories. Ghostbusters still holds up today for its memorable characters, famous quotes, iconic spooky monsters, and even its iconic Ghostbusters logo.

The original ghostbuster's return speaks to the film's title, which alludes to a life after death and is apt considering the job Egon had before his demise. However, the movie's title is also connected with Gozer and Ivo Shandor as well, both of whom came back to life after presumably dying decades earlier.

The proton pack is a fictional energy-based holding device, used for controlling and lassoing ghosts in the Ghostbusters universe. First depicted in the film Ghostbusters, it has a hand-held wand ("Neutrona Wand" or particle thrower) connected to a backpack-sized nuclear accelerator.

In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, the many ghosts and transformations in Ghostbusters are likely to be particularly scary for children under five years.

It has its moments... but they don't make up for a general flat-footedness and tendency to wobble. November 22, 2021 | Rating: 2/4 | Full Review… The film's main appeal is not what it appropriates from other Ghostbusters pictures, but that it's a nostalgic nod to the Spielbergian family adventures of the same period.

Peter Venkman There is no doubt that Bill Murray quickly became the star and face of the team. For most fans, the first Ghostbuster they think of is Dr. Peter Venkman, the laid-back con-artist of the team who saw the money-making opportunity in the company more than anything.

1. Ghostbusters (1984) The original and still the best, Ghostbusters was and is a zeitgeist movie that took some of the biggest rising comedy stars of the early 1980s and built a high-concept, surprisingly scary comedy-horror mash-up around them.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is an entertaining reboot of the classic 1980s Ghostbusters franchise. The connection to the original story is via Phoebe, whose estranged grandfather dies and leaves his family a collection of ghostbusting equipment.
