After the members of a team of scientists (Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray) lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become "ghostbusters" to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. This is an amazing movie! Funny, smart, well written and directed. It features an outstanding performance from Bill Murray, great showings by Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis and one of the last documented instances of Dan Aykroyd being funny on film (he was blown by a ghost!).

The blockbuster forever enchanted audiences with its quirky humor, pioneering visual effects, catchy theme song with a strange true story behind it, and spooky stories. Ghostbusters still holds up today for its memorable characters, famous quotes, iconic spooky monsters, and even its iconic Ghostbusters logo.

The original ghostbuster's return speaks to the film's title, which alludes to a life after death and is apt considering the job Egon had before his demise. However, the movie's title is also connected with Gozer and Ivo Shandor as well, both of whom came back to life after presumably dying decades earlier.

The proton pack is a fictional energy-based holding device, used for controlling and lassoing ghosts in the Ghostbusters universe. First depicted in the film Ghostbusters, it has a hand-held wand ("Neutrona Wand" or particle thrower) connected to a backpack-sized nuclear accelerator.

Not for kids This may have been funny in the 80's but it is simply not appropriate for kids. There is a ton of language, sexual innuendos, womanizing, and 2 VERY inappropriate sex scenes.

In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, the many ghosts and transformations in Ghostbusters are likely to be particularly scary for children under five years.

It has its moments... but they don't make up for a general flat-footedness and tendency to wobble.
