The film follows four teenagers who who find themselves sucked into the game of Jumanji - but unlike the original board game, Jumanji now takes the form of a video game. Falling deep in a mysterious jungle, they must finish the game in order to leave.

Jumanji Locations The primary setting is Brantford, New England, created on the Bridge Studios lot in Burnaby, just southeast of Vancouver. Aside from this studio location, other scenes were shot outside Vancouver in Delta and Tsawwassen, a seaside resort on Route 17.

Brantford, New Hampshire Shooting took place in various New England locales, mainly Keene, New Hampshire, which represented the story's fictional town of Brantford, New Hampshire, and North Berwick, Maine, where the Olde Woolen Mill stood in for the Parrish Shoe Factory.

It's a movie which never fails to thrill, no matter how outdated the special effects or pop culture references get. Jumanji has impacted my understanding of movies in the broader sense, helping me to understand that they can be escapist, pleasurable, meaningful, and if you're lucky, all three at once.

THE CONCEPT FOR JUMANJI WAS BASED ON A 1981 PICTURE BOOK BY CHRIS VAN ALLSBURG. Chis Van Allsburg, who was admittedly unhappy with the original draft of the film, got to contribute to a later draft.
