1984 KFC nuggets were first introduced to the world in 1984, but phased out after Crispy Strips and Popcorn chicken made their way onto the menu.

“After a wildly successful test run in 2022 and years without a nugget made with the signature taste of KFC on menus, new Kentucky Fried Chicken Nuggets are making their way to KFC's permanent menu at participating locations,” wrote KFC in a press release.

KFC introduced Kentucky Nuggets in 1984, but phased them out for Crispy Strips in 1996 and Popcorn Chicken in 1998, according to the KFC Wiki.

A 12-piece order of KFC nuggets contains 420 calories, 18g fat, 24g carbs, and 36g protein. Since the chicken nuggets are larger and made from 100% white meat chicken, you end up getting more protein in each serving.

He invented the chicken nugget as well as many other poultry-related inventions. Due to his contributions to the poultry sciences, he is a member of the American Poultry Hall of Fame.

The nuggets sell in increments of 5-, 8-, 12- or 36-piece and are available in combination meals with fries, a biscuit, and a medium drink.

Nuggets are fried in hydrogenated oil and contain high amounts of sugar, fat, and preservatives. This makes them an unhealthy choice, especially if you eat them often.
