On November 10, 2020, Kohl's issued a recall for over 500,000 SONOMA Goods For Life branded three-wick candles for fire and burn hazards. The National Consumer Product Safety Commission warns consumers that the three-wick candle flames can ignite the surface of the wax and/or cause the glass container to break.

Container, Jar or Filled A candle that is poured when manufactured into a glass, metal or ceramic container specifically designed to hold the wax and withstand the heat of the burning candle.

Jar candles burn evenly, they do not lose their shape unlike other candles and holds up to 3 times more scent. You don't have to worry about the wax spills and dripping when you're dealing with jars, as they come self-contained that means you don't have to clean up any mess as they melt.

Soy wax, coconut wax and beeswax candles are all great options. Be sure to make sure labels say the candles are 100% soy or beeswax (companies like to create blends with paraffin wax because it's cheaper) and if possible, I like to buy sustainably sourced and cruelty-free candles!

Luxury candles tend to use higher-end alternatives to paraffin, such as coconut wax, beeswax, and soy wax. For example, our candles are made with natural soy wax, which burns less quickly than paraffin and allows you to savor the ambience and aroma up to 50% longer.

Peel apart the wick; if you see metal, find another candle. There are other metals (like zinc) that are used to strengthen wicks, but without proper labeling, there is no way for consumers to know if it is lead or another metal. Choose candles made of natural waxes- such as palm, soy or beeswax.

Avoid aromatherapy candles made of paraffin or gel, both petroleum byproducts. In all things, avoiding the fossil fuel industry when you can makes sense for living a green life. Just like if you don't have to drive a car to get to your destination, don't; if you don't have to burn a petroleum-based candle, don't.

First we mix the ingredients. Wax. Is drawn into batch tanks from larger tanks outside and mixed with additives. And fragrance next wicks are inserted into each jar and glued to hold them in place.

The container size affects how long a candle will burn. Large candles, over 12 ounces, will burn around five to eight hours per ounce. Smaller candles, under 12 ounces, will burn around four to seven hours per ounce. Our candles are eight ounces and burn for 55 hours, so they burn approximately 6.87 hours per ounce.

In the developed world today, candles are used mainly for their aesthetic value and scent, particularly to set a soft, warm, or romantic ambiance, for emergency lighting during electrical power failures, and for religious or ritual purposes.

Ceramics are great for making candles in! They are long-lasting, heat resistant, and most come already sealed. Basically, if a ceramic container is marked microwave and dishware safe, you're good to go!

Check out the wax blend. A high-quality flame will burn clean without producing smoke or soot. The size of the wick is incredibly important. The wick pulls the liquid wax up for the flame to burn. At Creative Candles, we use a very unique 100% cotton wick designed for taper candles.
