Chicken Selects Buttermilk Crispy Tenders (and their precursor, Chicken Selects) were chicken strips sold by the international fast food restaurant chain McDonald's in the United States and Canada.

Fully cooked 100% Halal white meat chicken seasoned and lightly breaded, making them crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It comes together with a sauce of your choice.

That's not for lack of trying, as its Chicken Select Tenders were a permanent menu item from 2002 to 2013. After being dropped, they were brought back in 2015, winning some fans, but not being popular enough to stick around.

Chicken tenders or chicken tenderloins are the little strips of meat that are tenuously attached to the underside of each breast (and thus sometimes called “hanging tenders”), so every chicken has two tenders.

Also known as chicken fingers, chicken goujons, chicken strips or chicken fillets, tenders are chicken meat prepared from the pectoralis minor muscles.

Chicken tenders were first made in Manchester, New Hampshire at the Puritan Backroom in 1974. Restaurants in Savannah, Georgia, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana have challenged this claim with later assertions to the invention of chicken tenders, although the general consensus supports the claim in Manchester.

However, while chicken nuggets and sandwiches have been mainstays, one dish has slowly become dominant in the industry - chicken tenders and fingers.

First, McDonald's McNuggets are made with white meat only - which includes breast meat, rib meat, tenderloin, and just a little bit of the chicken skin (for extra flavor). The chicken is ground into a coarse ground chicken mixture.

McDonald's U.K. sources chicken from many countries including the U.K., Holland, France, Thailand and Brazil. The chickens from these countries are reared and audited to farm assurance standards.
