This product is used to help reduce itching and pain from certain skin conditions (such as scrapes, minor skin irritations, insect bites). It may also be used to help relieve nerve pain after shingles (infection with herpes zoster virus). Lidocaine belongs to a class of drugs known as local anesthetics.

The active ingredient in Aspercreme is trolamine salicylate, a medication related to aspirin. Trolamine salicylate works by stopping the production of enzymes (proteins) that cause pain and inflammation (swelling).

While holding the canister 3-5 inches (8-13 centimeters) from the affected area, spray until wet. If the affected area is on the face, spray the medication onto your hand and apply to the face. Do not spray near your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you are using the foam, shake the canister well before using.

Ive used these during menstrual times and for general lower back pain and they work great. Definitely alleviates pain and makes it easier to move around. Very affordable and not over priced for the quality.

Apply the medication to the affected area no more than 3 to 4 times a day. Rub in gently and thoroughly. After applying the medication, wash your hands unless you are using this medication to treat the hands.

To ease your menstrual cramps, your health care provider might recommend: Pain relievers. Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) or naproxen sodium (Aleve), at regular doses starting the day before you expect your period to begin can help control the pain of cramps.

Older adults may be at greater risk for stomach/intestinal bleeding, kidney problems, heart attack, and stroke while using this drug. Before using this medication, women of childbearing age should talk with their doctor(s) about the benefits and risks.

General. In general, trolamine salicylate topical (the active ingredient contained in Aspercreme) has been safe to use. If applied over a large area, salicylate type side effects (e.g., tinnitus, nausea, and/or vomiting) could potentially occur.

In a study of just over 1,000 women, naproxen was found to possibly increase the time to conception in people trying to get pregnant. 4 The effect seemed to increase with higher dosages of naproxen. Overall, the impact was small but statistically significant.

Medicines for heavy menstrual bleeding may include:

1. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, also called NSAIDs.
2. Tranexamic acid.
3. Oral contraceptives.
4. Oral progesterone.
5. Hormonal IUD (Mirena, Liletta, others).
6. Other medicines.
