Rudolf Wilde. Developed in the 1960's in Germany, he created an all-natural juice drink with no preservatives kids could enjoy. He named his drink after the bright sun on the island of Capri, one of his favorite vacation spots. Kraft purchased Capri Sun in 1991 and the rest is history.

What does Capri-Sun contain? To create the great taste of the original Capri-Sun, we use a combination of sugar, natural flavours, water, and at least 10% natural fruit juice.

Capri-Sun is manufactured at our headquarters in Eppelheim, near Heidelberg, Germany, for the German market and many other European countries. But Capri-Sun is also produced in 23 other countries, including the USA, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, China and Ukraine.

History. The original drink in the Indian subcontinent was named paantsch. The word punch may be a loanword from Hindi पाँच (pāñć), meaning "five", as the drink was frequently made with five ingredients: alcohol, sugar, juice from either a lime or a lemon, water, and spices.

In fact, the word “punch” is thought to derive from the Hindi word for “five,” as the original drink was frequently made with just five ingredients: alcohol (usually rum, brandy, or arack), sugar, juice (from either a lime or a lemon), water, and spices (like nutmeg).

Since its launch, Capri-Sun has been packaged in laminated foil vacuum Doy-N-Pack pouches, with which the brand has become strongly associated. In the United States, these pouches were innovative as the first single-serving fruit juice containers.

Limoncello For over a hundred years, tourists have ventured to Italy's island of Capri for the rugged seaside vistas, designer shops and the refreshing taste of Limoncello. The drink, once the exclusive beverage of the Mariantonia Hotel, was invented by its hospitable owner Vincenza Canale from wild lemons growing on the island.

The first punch The first recorded punch recipe dates from 1638 when Johan Albert de Mandelslo, a German managing a factory in Surat, India recorded that the workers there made "a kind of drink consisting of aqua vitae, rose-water, juice of citrons and sugar."
