Unisom® SleepTabs® active ingredient, doxylamine succinate, is a non-habit forming antihistamine that blocks certain natural substances (histamine, acetylcholine) that your body makes. The lack of histamine causes you to get drowsy and fall asleep quicker.

Taking too much Unisom Sleep Gels can lead to serious heart problems, seizures, coma, or death. Do not use this medicine to make a child sleepy. Unisom Sleep Gels sleep aid medicine is not for use in children younger than 12 years old.

Can I take Unisom® regularly? Unisom®, non-prescription sleeping pills, should only be used to relieve occasional sleeplessness. If your sleeplessness lasts for more than two weeks, talk to your doctor. Long-term sleeplessness may be an indication of a serious underlying medical illness.
