This is a fine scope for big game hunting. The reason I gave it a 9 out of 10 was that the glass would have to be upgraded before I would use it for something finer such as prairie dogs or long range precision shooting. Burris did a great job with this big game hunting scope for sure. 4 out of 5 stars.
Both SFP reticles perform equally in terms of brightness. The only difference is: The Vortex comes with 11 brightness settings, while the Burris only has 10. Round 1 (Glass Clarity) Winner: the Strike Eagle.
1,200-plus yards
Laser range capability out to 1,200-plus yards with reflective target, 750-plus yards with non-reflective target. Push the button and a bright-red, illuminated dot signifies your new aiming point.
There is no “better” between the two focal planes. Higher magnification ranges are better in a first focal plane scope. Lower magnification is fine for second focal plane scopes. If you're into precision shooting, especially in matches, and you don't mind the cost: a first focal plane riflescope is great to have.

Holographic optics
Holographic optics are very durable and can withstand a beating. It is the optic of choice for soldiers from the Navy SEALS, the Green Berets, and the Marine Raiders. They can be mounted on small arms with a Weaver rail or a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail for more precise aiming.
The Burris line of scopes is not made in China. Most of them, except the top of the line XTR II scopes, are made in the Philippines ( Fullfield II & E1, MSR, Scout, Droptine scopes + the midrange Burris Mtac and Veracity scope line).

front focal plane reticles
Modern snipers generally use front focal plane reticles. To compensate, most optic companies make front focal plane reticle crosswires really thin near the center.
