Arco gas stations may not accept credit cards because they want to keep their prices low by avoiding the transaction fees associated with credit card payments. By only accepting debit cards, cash, or their own branded payment cards, Arco can save on these fees and pass on the savings to their customers.

Accepted at ARCO stations and any other fuel location in the U.S. where Mastercard® cards are accepted.

AM3 Fuel purchases at locations other than ARCO are subject to an out-of-network transaction fee. The ARCO Business Solutions Mastercard® is issued by Regions Bank, pursuant to a license by Mastercard® International Incorporated.

2000s. On April 18, 2000, ARCO was purchased by BP and completely merged into BP operations. There were two exceptions due to FTC requirements: ARCO Alaska was sold by BP to Phillips Petroleum, and ARCO Pipe Line Company was acquired by TEPPCO, a subsidiary of Enterprise Products.
