Roundup For Lawns1 is a formula that kills weeds, not the lawn! It controls over 250 common lawn weeds, roots and all, and is especially effective on hard-to-kill weeds such as crabgrass, dandelion, clover and yellow nutsedge.

Triclopyr is also an effective broadleaf herbicide but will cause injury to bermudagrass lawns and other stoloniferous turfgrass; it is safe to use on most cool-season turfgrasses such as bluegrass, ryegrass, and tall fescue lawns.

The most effective homemade option is a mixture of white vinegar, salt, and liquid dish soap. Each of these ingredients has special properties that combine to kill weeds. Both the salt and the vinegar contain acetic acid, which serves to dry out and kill the plants.

Roundup® for Lawns products are specially formulated to kill lawn weeds without harming your grass, while various Roundup® Weed and Grass Killer products are designed to be used in gardens and landscapes as well as on hardscapes like the patio and driveway.

That's a little bit disappointing, but it's not at all surprising [10:13] because again, Roundup is a systemic. It's going to kill the entire weed. It's absorbed in through the leaves, goes to the stems and the roots, and kills the whole thing. Vinegar, all it's doing is just killing the leaves and that's it.

The best pre-emergent weed control for lawns is Fertilome's All Season Weed Preventer with Fertilizer. This product contains an herbicide called Prodiamine. This herbicide will keep weed seeds from germinating for 6 to 8 months.

Use Organic Herbicides Some natural weed killers are: Corn gluten is an organic herbicide that stops specific weeds from growing roots. It is used to control crabgrass and some other lawn weeds before they grow. Acetic acid or horticultural white vinegar kills weeds naturally and fast.

Augustine grass, or zoysiagrass, unless turf injury can be tolerated. Use Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester during warm weather, from early spring through fall, when weeds are actively growing and bloomage has not occurred.

Mix 3/8 to 3/4 fluid ounces of Hi-Yield Triclopyr Ester per 1000 square feet in enough water to provide uniform coverage of the target area. Apply at any time broadleaf weeds are susceptible. Always read and follow label instructions.

Roundup: The herbicide active ingredient in Roundup is glyphosate, which if sprayed on the lawn will kill not only the weeds but the lawn. This is a nonselective herbicide that controls any green plant on which it is applied.

The lawn can become very sick or even die in areas if herbicides are applied to newly mowed lawns, so the general rule is to wait for one week after mowing before applying weed killers to the lawn. Also, wait one week after applying weed killers before mowing the lawn again.
