The dynasty is ending (on television). On Wednesday, A&E announced that Duck Dynasty's most recent season will be its last. The A&E reality series - which follows the Robertsons, a professional duck-hunting family in Louisiana - has been a controversy magnet during its 11-season run.

2017 Duck Dynasty is an American reality television series that aired on A&E from 2012 to 2017. The series portrays the lives of the Robertson family, who became successful from their family-operated business, Duck Commander.

The series followed patriarch Phil Robertson, his wife, Kay Robertson, his brother Si Robertson and Phil's sons Willie Robertson, Jep Robertson and Jase Robertson.

David McKillop, the general manager of A&E, said the network viewed a tape and realized the potential for his channel was in the family interaction. After what he called “a vision meeting” with Mr. Robertson, A&E commissioned two pilots. The second ended with a scene of the family gathered around the dinner table.
