What is Masimo MightySat?
Masimo MightySat is a line of fingertip pulse oximeters designed and manufactured by the global medical technology company , Masimo. The Masimo MightySat line includes several models such as the MightySat Rx and MightySat Bluetooth 9942 that are indicated for the non-invasive spot checking of functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2) and pulse rate. The MightySat pulse oximeters are designed to be used both at home and in clinical settings and feature Masimo SET technology which is clinically validated to provide accurate and reliable SpO2 and pulse rate measurements, even during challenging conditions such as patient movement and low perfusion.
Masimo MightySat pulse oximeters are also available with Bluetooth connectivity, such as the MightySat Bluetooth 9942 and MightySat with Bluetooth LE White 9800 , which allows for wireless communication with a smartphone using the Masimo Personal Health app to track and trend measurements over time. The MightySat Bluetooth 9942 also includes Pleth Variability Index (PVi) and Respiration Rate (RRp) measurements, in addition to SpO2 and pulse rate.
Masimo MightySat pulse oximeters are widely used and trusted by healthcare professionals around the world due to their accuracy and reliability. In addition, they have received positive customer reviews for their ease of use, portability, and the availability of additional measurements such as PVi and RRp. Whether for personal use at home or in a clinical setting, the Masimo MightySat line is an excellent option for monitoring vital signs and ensuring patient safety.
Frequently Asked Questions about masimo mightysat
Compared to other pulse oximeters during patient motion and low perfusion, Masimo SET® provides measurements when other pulse oximeters cannot, dramatically reduces false alarms (specificity), and accurately detects true alarms (sensitivity) that can indicate a deteriorating patient condition.
Masimo has secured clearance from the the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the measurement of respiration rate from a photoplethysmogram (RRp), which can now be used on the MightSat Rx finger pulse oximeter. Image: Masimo MightySat Rx with RR. Photo: Courtesy of Masimo.
Masimo offers an integrated portfolio of solutions designed to help clinicians focus on patients and improve workflows, including industry-leading SET® pulse oximetry, advanced measurement capabilities, vital signs monitors, portable monitoring devices, and a robust remote monitoring and clinician notification system.
Masimo SET® Measure-through Motion and Low Perfusion™ Pulse Oximetry. Masimo's breakthrough Signal Extraction Technology® (SET®) - available for use in the home - overcomes the limitations of conventional pulse oximetry with the ability to measure through motion and low perfusion.
Masimo MightySat Fingertip Pulse Oximeter is the only fingertip pulse oximeter to measure five key health parameters: Oxygen Level (SpO2), Pulse Rate(PR), Breath per Minute(RRp), Perfusion Index (Pi) , and Pleth Variability index (PVi).
Signal Extraction Technology®, or Masimo SET®, assumes that both the arterial and venous blood can move and uses parallel signal processing engines–DST®, FST®, SST™, and MST™–to separate the arterial signal from sources of noise (including the venous signal) to measure SpO2 and pulse rate accurately, even during motion ...

The pulse oximeter uses a cold light source that shines a light through the fingertip, making the tip appear to be red. By analyzing the light from the light source that passes through the finger, the device is able to determine the percentage of oxygen in the red blood cell.
The pulse oximeter, or Pulse Ox, is an electronic device that measures the saturation of oxygen carried in your red blood cells. Pulse oximeters can be attached to your fingers, forehead, nose, foot, ears or toes. The device may then be reused or disposed of.
Blood Oxygen Monitors
the saturation percent of oxygen, often abbreviated SpO2. And this device is called an SpO2 monitor, or a blood oxygen saturation monitor. Most O2 saturation monitors like this today also measure the pulse.
It is an easy, painless measure of how well oxygen is being sent to parts of your body furthest from your heart, such as the arms and legs. A clip-like device called a probe is placed on a body part, such as a finger or ear lobe. The probe uses light to measure how much oxygen is in the blood.
To date, more than 100 studies have shown that Masimo SET® outperforms other pulse oximetry technologies, providing clinicians with unmatched sensitivity and specificity to make critical patient care decisions.
