"How We Got Here" by Matt McPherson, Founder & CEO
In school, I wasn't much of a book-learner, but I convinced my shop teacher to let me build a bow in shop class, and soon discovered my life's calling. In 1992, I invented Solocam technology and started Mathews Archery.
Matt McPherson founded Mathews Archery 30 years ago. Today he is still engineering cutting-edge bows just like he was in 1992, when he started the company.
Crosscentric Cam with patent-pending Switchweight
Proven accurate in the field, this revolutionary cam system allows you to change draw length and peak draw weight by 5 pound increments with the simple change of a mod.
You are pushing the projectile to fly faster than it's intended to, and the flight characteristics of it will suffer. The same is true for arrows. We (and many archers who are much smarter than me) have found that arrows fly optimally in the 270-280 fps range.
For example, a typical crossbow provides 260 FPS to 400 FPS. If you want to get the best out of your crossbow, then I suggest you choose a crossbow with a speed of 250-300 FPS. High-speed bows tend to make noise due to the vibrations from the projectile.
