Anchor Bay Home Entertainment's Black Sails: The Complete Third Season is an epic adventure that takes place in the 18th-century Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy. The series follows the story of Captain Flint and his crew as they fight for survival in a world full of danger, betrayal, and treasure.

Season three of Black Sails is filled with action-packed episodes that will leave you at the edge of your seat. The season begins with Flint and his crew trying to rebuild their reputation and their fortunes after the events of the last season. However, they soon discover that the road to redemption is not an easy one.

The story takes a dramatic turn when they cross paths with the powerful pirate queen, Eleanor Guthrie, who is struggling to keep control of Nassau in the face of a new threat. Meanwhile, a new villain, Woodes Rogers, arrives in Nassau with a mission to put an end to the pirate menace once and for all.

As the season unfolds, alliances shift and betrayals abound, making for an intense and thrilling watch. The characters are complex and well-developed, with each having their own unique motivations and desires. The acting is superb, with standout performances from Toby Stephens as Captain Flint, Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie, and Luke Arnold as the charming and cunning pirate, John Silver.

The Blu-ray and DVD release of Black Sails: The Complete Third Season also includes bonus features such as behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, and commentary from the cast and crew. Overall, this season of Black Sails deftly combines history and fiction to create an engaging and immersive world that is as captivating as it is dangerous.

Frequently Asked Questions about anchor bay home entertainment black sails: the complete third season

Flint and his crew wage war against the world; Eleanor is offered clemency; Vane takes issue with Rackham's methods; one of Nassau's most notorious individuals returns.

Black Sails is set in the early 18th century, roughly two decades before the events of Treasure Island, during the Golden Age of Piracy. Feared Captain Flint brings on a younger crew member as they fight for the survival of New Providence island.

Flint and his crew are fictional. Flint, Silver, Billy Bones, Ben Gunn, and Maddie (kind of) are from Treasure Island. The Guthries, Max, Gates and most of the minor characters are entirely original. Nassau was real, and its portrayal in the show is pretty darn accurate.

As Flint calls after the last, retreating redcoat, “Tell the Governor we're coming.” And, at last, in Nassau, Rogers and Eleanor pledge their love, over the rotting corpse of Charles Vane. A body hung for three days in the tropical sun would be enough to clear a couple of streets.

Black Sails: Season 4 Reviews Chock full of action and high drama. Manages to walk a delicate line between relying too heavily on the story to come and winking at viewers who might be looking for the occasional easter egg. If you didn't watch Black Sails this year, you missed out on a masterpiece.

It actually has a lot more to offer, including a complex plot and a compelling roster of characters -- both fictional and factual -- that combine to create an effective fantasy world. Of course, Black Sails was designed for adults, and there's plenty of iffy content here to give parents pause.

Black Sails stood out from other pirate series by going into darker places, especially where its characters were concerned. Though Flint was the protagonist, he'd commit cold-blooded murder, especially if anyone crossed him.

For the Toby Stephens' played Flint, Black Sails came to its conclusion not with his desired victory in a war with England, but with a reunion in a Georgia penal colony and kiss with the assumed dead Thomas Hamilton, portrayed by Rupert Peny-Jones.

Black Sails won 3 Primetime Emmys during its run, as well as several more awards (and many more nominations), and for good reason.

Starz announced the show would come to an end with season 4, and while there are currently no plans for further seasons, the final episode set up a couple of potential spinoffs ideas. Related: Black Sails Ending: What Was Flint's Fate?

Think of how Black Sails ended this fourth and last season. Max, a wlw woman of color and survivor, was allowed to have her relationship with the woman she loved. Anne Bonny not only had Max, but the man she loved as well. THE main character, James Flint, was reunited with the man he loved.

Parents need to know that Black Sails heads into choppy territory in terms of sexual content and language -- and it's pretty violent, too. That means you'll see full frontal female nudity, simulated multipartner sex, and characters involved in bisexual relationships.
