Both neoprene and foam koozies are lightweight and pack flat, so they are great for travel or when you need to toss them in your bag for the beach. They do not, however, last particularly long. Insulated metal koozies will do the best job of keeping your drinks cold and are more of an investment.

A koozie (also sometimes called a coozie or a can cooler) is a fabric or foam sleeve. The primary use of a koozie is to insulate a beverage can or beer bottle thermally.

In 1980, RCC became the proud owner of the Koozie® brand name and design patent after making the construction worker an offer he couldn't refuse.

Each Koozie's print area (the area where your logo goes) is determined largely by its size, but most Koozies offer about 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches or more. Some Koozies even allow you to imprint your logo on both sides and the bottom of the sleeve. That's plenty of space to get your message out.

The koozie measures 3.5″x6. 5″ when flat (including 1″ bottom, subtract 1″ for height when in use) and is 3mm (about 1/8″) in thickness.

Foam can coolers simply prevent condensation from occurring on the outside of your can, which reduces heat. Stainless steel can coolers do this too, but they also use insulation to keep heat from transferring to your can. As a result, your can stays cold for longer.

First things first: The Yeti Colster Can Insulator is amazing at keeping drinks cold. I threw a can in there right out of the fridge and it stayed refreshingly cold the whole time I drank it. Normal koozies do an OK job at this, but I always find my drinks to be around room temperature during my final few sips.

In America, the first koozie® was invented by Bonnie McGough and patented in 1981. However, during that same time, Texas-based Radio Cap Corporation (RCC) began mass-producing their own version. This set the momentum for the future, with patents flying left and right for different versions of insulated sleeves.

The Radio Cap Corporation (RCC) registered a trademark for the name “koozie” in 1980. Just a year later, a woman named Bonnie McGough filed a patent for an “insulated drink cozy” with insulating material sandwiched by outer fabric. She suggested goose down as the insulator.

inventor Bonnie McGough Idaho inventor Bonnie McGough filed a patent in 1980 for an “insulated beverage cozy for use with cold drinking utensils such as a twelve-ounce beverage can.” McGough's design wasn't exactly the tacky darling we use today - she intended hers to be stuffed with goose down.
