Frequently Asked Questions about chevrolet tv commercial for chevy volt owners

The U.S. is the leading market, with 157,054 Volts delivered through the end of 2019, followed by Canada with 16,653 Volts sold through September 2018. Just over 10,000 Opel/Vauxhall Ampera cars had been sold in Europe as of June 2016.

The idea for the Volt came largely from GM bigwig Bob Lutz in 2006. He was tired of hearing praise for Toyota's hybrid Prius and chatter about some upstart called Tesla run by a guy with a funny name.

“We believe John Cusack's voice and persona fit well with Chevrolet and the direction we are taking with our advertising.” Cusack, of course, is the 46-year-old actor best known for roles in movies including Say Anything, Grosse Pointe Blank, High Fidelity, Con Air and Being John Malkovich.

The Volt has also been a money-loser for GM. The additional equipment needed to make a plug-in hybrid is expensive, while GM committed to making the Volt price-competitive at around $35,000.

“The vehicle died because it wasn't selling well, obviously,” said George Peterson, head of consulting firm AutoPacific. “The number of people willing to spend extra money” for a vehicle like the Volt “just isn't that huge anymore.”

Plug-in hybrids Yet the Volt did serve a purpose. It led to advances in lithium-ion batteries similar to those that power smart phones and computers. But such advances ultimately led to the Volt's demise as GM and other manufacturers developed fully electric vehicles that can go 200 more miles per charge.

The Chevy Volt is a range-extended electric vehicle produced by General Motors. Its electric motor provides up to 53 miles of range on a single charge, after which, a small gasoline engine kicks in to power the electric motor for up to an additional 367 miles.

The volt is named in honour of the 18th–19th-century Italian physicist Alessandro Volta. These units are defined in accordance with Ohm's law, that resistance equals the ratio of potential to current, and the respective units of ohm, volt, and ampere are used universally for expressing electrical quantities.

They include Terrence Jenkins, a model and entertainer known as Terrence J, who is a popular advocate for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Jenkins, who has previously worked with Chevy, will be called on to spread the word about the Blazer EV on social media; he has 3.1 million Instagram followers.

"Thing Of Beauty" by Danger Twins was featured in an ad for the 2023 Chevy Blazer. Watch the spot here, listen to "Thing Of Beauty" wherever you get music and check out Danger Twins' live performance video of the song here!

Plug-in hybrids But such advances ultimately led to the Volt's demise as GM and other manufacturers developed fully electric vehicles that can go 200 more miles per charge. "While it was a financial loser, it did what was intended," said retired GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, who shepherded the Volt into production.

The Volt was such a cutting-edge vehicle. A complicated hybrid system with a trick transmission produced for it (and its overpriced but stylish twin the Cadillac ELR) allowed the compact sedan to get 38 miles of full-electric power. Once depleted, it still returned 40 mpg.
