Denny's is known for being a place where you can get a Grand Slam breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, juice, and coffee - 24 hours a day. But like many other fast food chains, Denny's has evolved over the years, the Daily Meal reports.

Denny's was founded by Harold Butler and Richard Jezak, who opened Danny's Donuts in Lakewood, California, in 1953. In 1956, a year after Jezak departed from the six-store chain, Butler changed the concept, shifting it from a donut shop to a coffee shop with store No. 8.
