Rising Starry The name also brings to mind quite a few on-message cultural memes. The age-old rhyme “Star light, star bright” emphasizes the soda's lightness (no caffeine, clear color) and its bright lemon-lime flavor - chefs use bright to refer to citrus, acidity, and freshness (think spritz of lime on a taco).

Starry hopes to better compete with Sprite, which is owned by Coca-Cola, and 7 Up, which is owned by Keurig Dr.

Yeah, as far as super-sweet lemon-lime sodas go, Starry is solid. It's pretty interchangeable with Sprite. Starry is a bit more citrus-y while Sprite is a little cleaner.

For one thing, it's noticeably less sweet, which is a good thing. (Sierra Mist was made with real sugar, while Starry uses high-fructose corn syrup.) Because it was less cloying, Starry's citrus flavor read cleaner and crisper than in the older formula. Sharper bubbles came through in the Starry, too.

PepsiCo first debuted Starry at the National Association of Convenience Stores show in Las Vegas last October. This week, several influencers received samples of the soda from the company and posted reviews of it on YouTube. It has also been spotted at stores across the country, such as Kroger and Walmart.
