Community reviews This is my favorite for Margaritas...as it is not aged it has the original "fruity" Tequila flavor. A bit more expensive than some others, but worth it. Would also be great for shots with sangrita.

It's a mixto tequila, which means that rather than being distilled from 100% blue agave, as most tequilas are nowadays, the blue agave distillate only needs to be 51% of the blend prior to fermentation. The remainder is usually cane sugar or high-fructose corn syrup.

IIRC, the big difference is that Especial is a Mixto, whereas Tradicional is 100% agave. Tradicional has changed a ton in the last decade.
