What is Scion iM?
Scion iM is a compact car model produced by Toyota under its now-discontinued Scion brand. It was introduced in 2015 as a 2016 model year and was available until the Scion brand was discontinued in 2016. The Scion iM was then rebranded as the Toyota Corolla iM in 2017 and eventually dropped in 2018.
The Scion iM was widely regarded as a practical and affordable car option, making it popular among young drivers and commuters. It came with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 137 horsepower, which, while not as powerful as some of its competitors, was adequate for its size and weight. The car was available with either a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT). The CVT version was rated at 32 mpg combined, which was a decent fuel efficiency for a car of its size.
The car's exterior styling was modern, with sharp lines, and a bold front end. Its hatchback design gave it plenty of cargo space, making it ideal for young adults who needed a practical car for everyday use. Scion iM's interior was also noteworthy, with a clean design and high-quality materials that gave it a premium feel. Notably, the Scion iM also had a relatively quiet cabin, which was uncommon for a compact car.
The Scion iM also boasted a host of safety features, including standard rearview camera and eight airbags. The car also had an optional Pre-Collision System that helped prevent accidents, making it an attractive choice for safety-conscious drivers.
Overall, the Scion iM was a well-rounded compact car that offered good value for its price. Its combination of practicality, fuel efficiency, and modern styling made it a popular choice among car buyers when it was available.

Toyota
Toyota, the parent company behind the Scion brand, had decided to discontinue this youth-focused nameplate in August 2016 and most of the Scion-branded models have been rebadged as Toyotas.
Arguably the most interesting thing about the iA is that, unlike most every other Scion to date, it wasn't sourced from the vast international product reserves of its parent company Toyota. Instead, it comes from Mazda.
Both generations were built in Japan. The tC was introduced first in the United States for the 2005 model year and then, beginning with the second generation in the 2010 model year, in Canada as well.
Discontinuation. On February 3, 2016, Toyota announced that the Scion brand would be phased out in August after the 2016 model year, stating that the company no longer required a specific marque to target younger demographics.
Some folks are still holding on to their Scions, such as the case with Keith and his second-generation xB. The boxy little hatchback has racked up 300,000 miles (482,800 kilometers) and is still going strong with little to no issues in the 13 years of ownership.

Scion, a former marque of the automotive conglomerate Toyota, sold eight different small car models during its thirteen year existence in the North American market. All of its vehicles were mechanically related to or outright rebadgings of other cars sold under the Toyota brand.
It's been absorbed back into its parent company Toyota, which means, almost as soon as it began rolling off the assembly line, the Scion iA became the Toyota Yaris iA. If that's not confusing enough, the Yaris iA that was originally known as the Scion iA is really a Mazda2.
To better explain the shift to buyers of the Scion iM and iA, Toyota will leverage its well-known existing model names to create the Toyota Corolla iM hatchback and the Toyota Yaris iA sedan. This makes particular sense to us in the case of the iM, which is already a Toyota Corolla hatchback under the skin.
